Mirzapur police arrest two, seize cannabis worth around Rs 6 crore

Dehat Kotwali police in Mirzapur have arrested two alleged drug traffickers and seized cannabis estimated to be worth around six crore rupees. The arrests were made as part of a police operation against drug trafficking, which, according to the initial information, uncovered a large cannabis smuggling network.

The initial information indicates that the accused had brought the cannabis from Orissa and were on their way to supply it in Mirzapur, Varanasi and several other districts of the state. Dehat Kotwali police intercepted and arrested them before the planned supplies could be made.

The estimated value of the cannabis recovered during the operation has been put at around six crore rupees. The seizure and arrests are being viewed as a significant success in efforts to curb the trafficking of narcotic substances.

Police are questioning the arrested accused to gather further information about the smuggling network. The questioning is also aimed at identifying other people connected with the supply of cannabis and obtaining details about the gang involved in the illegal trade.

The investigation is focused on the wider supply network linked to the accused, including those involved in distributing the cannabis brought from Orissa to districts across the state.
