Indore 26 October,2026: Energy Minister Shri Pradyuman Singh Tomar said that the Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company (MP Transco) has completed the shifting of the important 220 kV Mahalgaon (Gwalior)-Datia transmission line passing near the backwater area of Ramaoua Dam in Gwalior.

The shifting work was undertaken to keep the electricity supply in Gwalior safe. The earlier transmission line was located close to the dam’s backwater area. During the monsoon, there was a possibility that a rise in the water level could bring the conductors of the electricity line into contact with the water.

Keeping this possibility in mind, the line was shifted to a safer location. Shri Tomar said the work has been completed by MP Transco as part of its initiative to protect the transmission line and reduce the possibility of disruption to the power supply in the Gwalior area.

Shri Tomar said the proactive step taken by MP Transco has helped remove the possibility of an electrical disruption that could have been caused if the conductors came into contact with water because of rising water levels during the monsoon.

He said the work was completed in time and is important for keeping the electricity supply in the Gwalior region safe and uninterrupted. The shifting has also increased the reliability of the related transmission line, according to the Energy Minister.

Shri Deepak Kumar Agrawal, Chief Engineer, Transmission Line Maintenance, Madhya Pradesh, provided details of the work. He said 8 towers of the old transmission line were removed as part of the shifting operation.

The line linked to these old towers had a length of 2.860 kilometres. In their place, 10 new towers were installed, and a transmission line with a length of 3.406 kilometres was prepared.

With this change, the route of the transmission line was altered as required. The revised route has been secured against the potential problem arising from the backwater area of Ramaoua Dam. The completed work addresses the concern linked to rising water levels during the monsoon while supporting the safety and reliability of the transmission network supplying the Gwalior area.
