Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will inaugurate a conference of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairpersons from 25 States at the Keralam Assembly on November 3.
The two-day conference, scheduled for November 3 and 4, is expected to bring together 300 public representatives, including MPs and MLAs from various States.
Mr. Birla will also inspect a Guard of Honour before the inaugural ceremony.
First such conference hosted by Keralam
Addressing a press conference on Monday (November 2, 2026), Keralam Assembly Speaker Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said this would be the first time the State was hosting such a conference.
The inaugural and closing ceremonies will be held at the Sankaranarayanan Thampi Members Lounge in the Assembly complex.
The plenary sessions will take place in the Assembly Hall.
Mr. Radhakrishnan said the Rule Book does not allow other events to be held inside the Assembly Hall.
He said he had moved a resolution in the Assembly session that concluded last week to waive the restriction, and that all members had responded favourably.
Focus on the Public Accounts Committee
Under the Constitution, the PAC examines reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General and submits them to the Assembly, the Speaker said.
He added that the PAC in Keralam had examined and submitted the highest number of such reports.
The conference will include addresses by Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan, chairperson of the PAC of Parliament K. K. Venugopal, Keralam PAC chairperson K.N.Balagopal and others.
The participation of PAC chairpersons from 25 States, along with MPs and MLAs, will place the committee’s work on CAG reports and their submission to legislatures at the centre of the conference.
