All 608 participating students from the 2026-28 cohorts at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) secured offers from 128 organisations during the placement week from October 26-29, according to a release from the institute.

The summer placement process concluded with a median stipend of ₹2 lakh per month for the batch, while the average stipend stood at ₹1.95 lakh per month.

Consulting accounts for the largest share

Consulting accounted for a little over half the recruitments, at 50.7% of all offers, the release said. Accenture Strategy made a record number of offers, at 123.

Recruiter participation spanned consulting, finance, product management, sales and marketing, general management, and analytics, with the release describing participation across these domains as strong.

Tapas Ranjan Pati, head of Career Development Services, stated, “Management Consulting emerged as the most preferred domain, accounting for more than 50% of the offers, followed by Finance/Investments and Product Management Roles. Legacy recruiters, including global FMCG giants and leading Indian conglomerates, continue to recruit in significant numbers.”

Technology hiring and first-time recruiters rise

The release highlighted two developments in the recruiter mix: increased hiring by leading technology companies and a rise in first-time recruiters.

“The cycle also saw increased hiring by leading technology companies, along with a rise in first-time recruiters, who accounted for approximately 40% of participating organisations,” said the release.

The placement committee also reported strong participation from both legacy and new recruiters, with approximately 40% being first-time recruiters.
