Himachal Pradesh Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani inaugurated a lift, a modern biochemistry analyser machine and an Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) centre at Civil Hospital Ghumarwin during his visit to Bilaspur district today. He also inaugurated the Child Development Project Office in Ghumarwin.

The lift has been installed at a cost of about 40 lakh rupees, while the modern biochemistry analyser machine has been installed at a cost of 15 lakh rupees. The new facilities are intended to improve access to hospital services and medical testing for patients visiting the hospital.

Rajesh Dharmani said the modern biochemistry analyser machine at Ghumarwin hospital would make it easier to conduct tests related to the kidney, liver and heart, along with various other health-related tests. The availability of modern laboratory equipment would help the hospital conduct around 1,400 to 1,500 tests every day and provide reports to patients on time, he said.

The minister said the hospital was also providing facilities for tests including thyroid, vitamin B-12 and vitamin D-3. The rates for these tests have been kept low, while some tests are being provided free of cost to eligible Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.

He said the start of the lift service would make it easier for elderly people, women, persons with disabilities and seriously ill patients to reach different floors of the hospital. These patients would no longer face the same difficulty in moving between the various floors, he said.

The minister said the state government was committed to strengthening the required infrastructure in health institutions and providing better facilities to patients. He said the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, was developing ideal health institutions in every assembly constituency.

According to Rajesh Dharmani, the aim was to ensure that people could access the services of specialist doctors and modern medical facilities within their own areas. He said 11 specialist doctors were providing services at Ghumarwin hospital.

The minister also said that an average of 600 to 900 patients were reaching the hospital every day for treatment. The coordinated efforts of doctors, paramedical staff and other employees had led to the continuous expansion of health services at the hospital, he said.

The briefing also stated that efforts were being made to provide services through 11 specialist doctors and to conduct more than 600 OPD and dialysis services every day.

Rajesh Dharmani also inaugurated the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) office in Ghumarwin. He said the office had been operating from a private building for about 36 years. With the office now getting its own government building, the functioning of departmental work would become easier and better services would be available to the public, he said.

The office of the Tehsil Welfare Officer is also functioning in the same building. The arrangement will allow people to access facilities of different departments under one roof and reduce the need to visit separate offices for their work.
