A picture of poor road conditions has emerged from Gurgaon's Gram Panchayat, where the village's main route has turned into mud and a swamp, leaving residents troubled. The situation has raised questions over claims of development in the area.

The village falls under Baniyakheda Block in Chandausi. The condition of the main route has deteriorated so much that the entire stretch has become difficult to use. Mud and standing water have made movement along the route a daily challenge for residents.

Photographs from the spot show deep tyre marks left by tractor-trolleys on the unpaved route. Water has collected at several places, while the thick mud has made it difficult even for people to walk through the area.

A large heap of straw has been placed along the side of the route. Dirt and cow dung have also accumulated beside the mud walls, making the conditions worse. Residents say that even a little rain or the flow of water from a drain quickly turns the route into a pond.

Local residents said they had complained several times to the village head and the Panchayat secretary about the condition of the main route. However, they said that no action had been taken so far. According to the residents, they are given assurances each time, but the problem remains unresolved.

They also alleged that roads are shown as constructed in official records, while the reality on the ground remains the same, with mud and swamp covering the route.

Schoolchildren use this route every day to go to school. Women and elderly people also take the same route while going towards the market and the fields. The mud creates a constant risk of slipping and falling.

Residents said that during the rainy season, children are unable to attend school. The movement of tractor-trolleys makes the route even deeper and worsens its condition.

The residents have demanded that the village head, the secretary and the Baniyakheda Block administration arrange soil filling on the main route at the earliest. They have also demanded the construction of a kharanja or CC road so that movement can become easier and they can get relief from the swamp-like conditions.

The residents warned that if the route is not repaired soon, they will complain to senior officials.
