Firozabad District Magistrate inspects schools, finds low attendance and infrastructure gaps

Firozabad District Magistrate Santosh Kumar Sharma conducted surprise inspections of basic education council schools in the Firozabad block area on Saturday to assess the quality of primary education, infrastructure, and student attendance. During his visit, he examined teaching standards in classrooms, checked the quality of mid-day meals, and reviewed cleanliness and basic facilities at multiple schools.

At Primary School Nagla Darua, the District Magistrate found 25 students and 5 teachers present out of 119 enrolled children. He visited a Class 5 classroom and asked student Manish to read from his Hindi textbook. Appreciating the child's reading skills, Sharma encouraged the students and distributed toffees. He inspected attendance registers and directed officials to improve teaching standards and ensure regular cleanliness in the premises. The mid-day meal was found to be prepared according to the prescribed menu. When the principal requested that vacant land opposite the school be allocated as a playground, the District Magistrate assured prompt action as per rules.

Subsequently, Sharma inspected Upper Primary School Kharsuli, where he tested students' general knowledge by asking them to name body parts, which they answered correctly. Out of 74 registered students, only 10 were present. He examined drinking water quality, toilet functionality, and attendance registers. The District Magistrate ordered immediate demolition of a dilapidated Anganwadi building within the school premises on safety grounds and directed the village head to construct a protective wall in front of a toilet located directly facing classrooms.

At Primary School Nagla Kharsuli, 52 out of 89 enrolled children and 4 teachers were present. Sharma issued strict instructions emphasizing that improving basic education standards is the government's top priority. He warned that 100 percent attendance of teachers, increased student presence, and quality education must be ensured, and any negligence would invite strict disciplinary action. Assistant Basic Education Officer Bhupendra Singh and other departmental officials accompanied him during the inspection.
