Excise Department Launches Special Enforcement Drive in Muzaffarnagar
The Excise Department has launched a special enforcement campaign in Muzaffarnagar to curb the sale of illegal liquor and overcharging. The campaign is being conducted under the leadership of District Excise Officer Ravishankar and Sadar Inspector Anil, with teams carrying out intensive checks across the district.
The departmental teams inspected liquor shops, major routes and restaurants as part of the campaign. The action was carried out under the instructions of the Additional Chief Secretary and Excise Commissioner, Uttar Pradesh, and under the direction of the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police.
Excise inspectors conducted detailed inspections of liquor shops through the EICFS app. During the checks, the teams worked to ensure that 100 per cent of sales were completed through POS machines. The stock available at the shops was also matched with the stock registers.
The teams checked whether liquor was being sold at the prescribed price. For this purpose, confidential test purchases were also conducted. Shopkeepers were directed to keep CCTV cameras switched on continuously.
Random samples were taken from bottles kept in the stock. The QR codes printed on the bottles were scanned through the departmental app and checked as part of the inspection process.
During the night, excise inspectors carried out intensive vehicle checks at the Mujheda Toll Plaza and Bayawla intersection in the presence of Sadar Inspector Anil. Restaurants were also checked in view of the possibility of illegal liquor consumption and violations of rules.
The District Excise team has remained engaged in the campaign with full preparedness, while maintaining continuous monitoring. Regular inspections of shops, checks on overcharging, verification of QR codes and late-night checking on the roads formed part of the enforcement activity.
The department’s continued inspections and field-level checks reflect its focus on monitoring liquor sales and enforcing the prescribed rules across Muzaffarnagar.
