DMK's Paranthamen files nomination for Madurantakam Assembly byelection

Madurantakam bypoll in Tamil Nadu: DMK candidate Paranthamen files nomination

I. Paranthamen, the DMK candidate contesting the Madurantakam Assembly constituency byelection, submitted his nomination papers to the Revenue Divisional Officer, who is serving as the Returning Officer for the seat.

Paranthamen was accompanied by former Minister T.M. Anbarasan and other DMK functionaries when he filed his papers. Speaking to reporters after completing the formality, he expressed confidence that the DMK would emerge victorious in the multi-cornered contest.

'Mupperum Vizha' postponed over Stalin's health

The DMK has postponed its 'Mupperum Vizha', which was scheduled for the evening at the party headquarters Anna Arivalayam, because party president M.K. Stalin is suffering from fever. DMK general secretary Duraimurugan said in a statement that the party would announce a fresh date for the event.

The byelection comes at a time when the DMK is actively preparing for electoral contests in the state, with the candidate's filing marking the official beginning of the party's campaign in Madurantakam.
