Bihar Chief Minister donates one month's salary to flood relief fund

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary donated one month's salary, ₹2,70,000, to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, handing over the cheque to Lokesh Kumar Singh, the Secretary to the Chief Minister. The contribution came as part of a widening effort by National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders to mobilize financial support for the nearly 50 lakh people affected by floods across 15 districts in the state.

Call for Broader Public Participation

Mr. Choudhary appealed to the people of the state and the capable sections of society to donate generously to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund so that maximum assistance can be provided to those affected during times of disaster. He stated that the Chief Minister's Relief Fund serves as a vital medium for assisting the needy, adding that relief and aid operations could be made even more effective through the participation of capable individuals in society.

Wave of Donations from NDA Leaders

The Chief Minister's donation followed BJP national president Nitin Nabin's contribution of three months' salary, amounting to ₹6.35 lakh. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Sanjay Saraogi handed over a cheque for ₹51 lakh to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund as a donation from the State BJP. He mentioned that assisting flood-affected families during this time of disaster is the collective responsibility of both society and the government.

Mr. Saraogi also announced that all BJP MPs, MLAs, and MLCs in Bihar would contribute one month's salary to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. He added that the State BJP will continue to provide necessary support to ensure relief reaches flood-affected families.

Janata Dal (United) leader and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Road Construction Minister Kumar Shailendra also handed over a cheque for one month's salary to the Chief Minister for the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

Commitment from Lok Janshakti Party

On September 18, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) President and Union Minister Chirag Paswan announced that all the MPs, MLAs, including one MLC of his party, will contribute one month's salary to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the flood victims.

Central Assessment of Flood Damage

On September 16, a central team led by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited Bihar to assess the damage caused by the floods that have affected nearly 50 lakh people in 15 districts.
