Bahraich police arrest wanted criminal Aslam while he attempts Nepal escape

Bahraich police have arrested a criminal carrying a bounty of 25,000 rupees while he was attempting to flee to Nepal. The arrest came after an encounter in which the accused sustained injuries and is now receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

The incident marks the second consecutive day of police encounters in Bahraich district. Yesterday, police clashed with bike-borne criminals in which Fulli alias Toofan was injured after being shot, while his associate Aslam managed to escape from the spot. A reward of 25,000 rupees had been declared on Aslam.

Late at night, Aslam was crossing the Bahraich border attempting to escape to Nepal when police received information. Based on the tip-off, police forces from three stations including Nanpara, Motipur and Matera cordoned off the area and attempted to capture him.

Seeing himself surrounded by police, Aslam opened fire on the Nanpara police team. In retaliatory action by Nanpara police, Aslam was shot in his left leg and sustained injuries.

Police recovered a 315 bore pistol, cartridges and a stolen bike from the possession of the 25,000 rupees bounty criminal Aslam.

SP Vishwajeet Srivastav said that Aslam has a long criminal history with more than 8 serious cases registered against him.

The arrest of two dangerous criminals in two consecutive days is being considered a major police action.
