Bahrаich police arrest man with 51 grams of smack worth ₹15 lakh
Bahrаich police have arrested a 24-year-old man with 51 grams of contraband smack valued at approximately ₹15 lakh in the international market.
The accused has been identified as Chand Babu, son of Ikbal, aged around 24 years, a resident of Chitwan Mohalla under Rupaidiha police station in Bahrаich district.
Acting on the directions of Superintendent of Police Vishwajeet Srivastava to curb drug trafficking and criminal activities, a joint team of Rupaidiha police station and SSB intercepted a suspicious person near pillar number 651/2. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Rural Durga Prasad Tiwari and Circle Officer Nanpara Chitranshu Gautam, led by Inspector-in-Charge Harendra Kumar Mishra.
Upon questioning and search of the suspect, police recovered 51 grams of illegal smack from his possession. Based on the recovery, case number 238/2026 under section 8/21 of the NDPS Act was registered at Rupaidiha police station. The accused was sent to the honorable court in Bahrаich for further legal proceedings.
In addition to the contraband, police seized one TVS Apache motorcycle bearing registration number UP40BQ2541, one Vivo mobile phone, and ₹250 in cash from the accused.
The accused has a criminal history with multiple prior cases registered against him. These include case number 238/2026 under section 8/21 NDPS Act at Rupaidiha police station, case number 237/2026 under section 8/21 NDPS Act at Rupaidiha police station, case number 209/2020 under sections 379 and 411 IPC at Dargah Sharif police station in Bahrаich, and case number 172/2021 under sections 379, 411, 413, 414, 420, and 468 IPC at Rupaidiha police station in Bahrаich district.
The Rupaidiha police team comprised Inspector-in-Charge Harendra Kumar Mishra, Sub-Inspector Arun Kumar Singh, Constable Abhishek Singh, Constable Abhishek Rai, Constable Sovindra Yadav, and Constable Ravindra Yadav. The SSB team included SI/GD Bhupendra Singh, CT/GD Pardeshi Kartar Singh, CT/GD Ajay, CT/GD Deendayal Chauhan, and dog handler CT/GD Ramnivas Jat with dog Ranko from 679 F Company, 42 Battalion SSB Bahrаich.
