Bahraich police arrest two suspects caught planning burglary with stolen phones

Bahraich Police in Uttar Pradesh arrested two suspects on August 22, 2026, catching them red-handed while planning a burglary with stolen mobile phones and housebreaking tools. The arrests were made by a team from Risia police station under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Vishwajeet Srivastava and Additional Superintendent of Police Ayush Vikram Singh.

The two accused have been identified as Sujaat Ali alias Tuntun, son of Basarat Ali, resident of Parewa Khan in Risia, and Munni alias Moni alias Sameer, son of Chabban, resident of Gulhariya in Baijnathpur area of Risia. Police recovered three mobile phones, one dummy mobile, and several burglary tools including a screwdriver, pliers, shovel, pliers wrench, torch, and a bunch of keys from their possession, along with 310 rupees in cash.

A case has been registered against both suspects under sections 313 and 317(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The arrest was led by Inspector-in-Charge Karunakar Pandey and executed by a police team including Sub-Inspector Sudhir Singh, Head Constable Prabhakar Raj Singh, and Constables Devendra Kumar and Surajit Vikram Singh.

Notably, one of the accused, Munni alias Moni alias Sameer, has a criminal history with four previous cases registered against him. These include two theft cases under IPC sections 380/411 in 2021 and 2022, and a cow slaughter case under the relevant act in 2020, all at Risia police station. The police action is part of an ongoing drive to curb crime and recover stolen property in the district under the guidance of Circle Officer Payagpur Harshita Tiwari.
