Bahraich police arrest woman smuggler with heroin valued at 35 lakh rupees

Bahraich police in Uttar Pradesh have arrested a woman drug smuggler with 116 grams of illegal smack valued at approximately ₹35 lakh in the international market.

A joint team of Rupaidiya police station and SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal) arrested Shakila Bibi, wife of Mohammad Islam alias Lalbadshah, aged around 40 years, a resident of Dashehra Bagh, Nai Basti, Rupaidiya police station area in Bahraich district. The operation was carried out during the night of 06.09.2026 at Dashehra Bagh during routine checking when the woman was detained on the basis of suspicious activity.

Along with the contraband, the police team recovered ₹21,029 in Indian currency and 23,800 Nepali rupees, as well as one Vivo V60 mobile phone from her possession.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Bahraich Superintendent of Police Vishwajeet Srivastava as part of an ongoing campaign against drug trafficking and criminals in the district. Additional Superintendent of Police Rural Durga Prasad Tiwari and Circle Officer Nanpara Chitranshu Gautam supervised the operation, while Inspector-in-Charge Harendra Kumar Mishra of Rupaidiya police station led the joint team on the ground.

Based on the recovery, a case has been registered as Crime Number 237/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Rupaidiya police station. The arrested accused has been sent to the court in Bahraich for further legal proceedings after completing necessary formalities.

The Rupaidiya police team included Inspector Harendra Kumar Mishra, Sub-Inspector Abdul Kadir, Head Constable Nagendra Singh, and constables Abhishek Rai, Abhishek Singh, Suvendra Yadav, Ravindra Yadav, Ram Avadh Yadav, Suraj Yadav, Kanhaiya Singh, Subhendra Chauhan, and women constables Baijanti Rajput, Shalini Yadav, Kanak Saroj, and Manyata Trivedi. The SSB team was led by Sub-Inspector Yashpal Singh and included Assistant Sub-Inspector Vinesh Kumar, Head Constable Din Dayal Chauhan, women constables Mamta Bhairava and Anitu, dog handler Mohammad Faruq with dog Rank, from F-Coy 42 Battalion SSB Nanpara.
