Woman in Shravasti alleges molestation, police pressure to settle; approaches District Magistrate

A woman in Shravasti district has accused a youth from her village of entering her home at midnight and molesting her, raising serious questions about women's safety in the region. The woman, a mother of three who lives in a village under Gilaula police station jurisdiction, has alleged that when she resisted, the accused pressed his hand over her mouth and threatened to kill her.

The matter took a more troubling turn when the victim approached Gilaula police station seeking justice. Instead of hearing her complaint, she alleges that police pressured her to reach a settlement in the case. Disappointed by the police response, the woman has now reached the Collectorate and approached the District Magistrate seeking intervention.

The victim has demanded that an FIR be registered against the accused and strict legal action be taken. The incident has once again put a spotlight on the state of women's security in the district and raised questions about police conduct when complaints are filed. The woman maintains that the youth from her own village forcibly entered her home in the middle of the night and molested her, and that her attempts to seek redressal through the local police station were met with efforts to suppress the matter through compromise rather than pursuing justice.
