Woman dies after electric shock in rented house basement in Pratapgarh

A 37-year-old woman died after receiving an electric shock in the basement of a rented house in Pratapgarh's Lalgang area. Sushila Devi was electrocuted and severely burned when she went into the basement for some work, leaving behind three children and a husband who was away in Delhi at the time of the tragedy.

The incident occurred at Harnahar Bazaar under Lalgang Kotwali police jurisdiction. Sushila Devi, a resident of Prayagraj, had been living with her husband Sushil Kumar and their three children in a rented house owned by Sudhir Kumar Pandey for approximately two years. Her husband was in Delhi for work when the accident took place.

Sushila Devi had gone down to the basement of the house for some task when she came into contact with live electrical current. She was severely burned by the shock. Her screams alerted people nearby, who rushed to the spot and immediately transported her to Lalgang Trauma Centre.

Doctors at the trauma centre examined her but declared her dead. When news of the incident reached Sushil Kumar in Delhi, he was left in deep shock. The woman's death has plunged the family into grief.

Police have begun gathering information about the case and are investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal electric shock in the basement.
