Woman accuses mother-in-law of fraudulent property transfer after husband's death

A property dispute case has surfaced in Muzaffarnagar district involving allegations of forced eviction and fraudulent transfer of assets. Sudha Tyagi held a press conference accusing her mother-in-law Hukmavati and certain family members of mistreatment and attempting to illegally seize property following the deaths of her husband and only son.

Sudha Tyagi stated that her husband Shiv Kumar Tyagi died in 2009, while their only son Ashutosh Tyagi passed away in 2017. She alleged that subsequently her mother-in-law began mistreating her and harassing her over property matters. According to Sudha, in 1998 Hukmavati made her sign certain documents claiming they were related to pension benefits. She alleged that she later discovered these documents were allegedly used to transfer a major portion of land and property into Hukmavati's name. Sudha said she has filed a cancellation suit in civil court to nullify those documents, and disputes over house tenancy are also pending before the civil court.

Sudha also leveled serious allegations against an individual named Joginder, claiming he has a criminal background and spent approximately 14 years in jail. She stated that a case numbered 237/225 under Section 420 and other provisions is registered against him at Chappar police station, though these claims could not be independently verified at present. She alleged that Joginder and his associates are threatening her and other family members while attempting to forcibly occupy the property. She further claimed that Joginder was fraudulently recorded as the son of her father-in-law Shraddhanand Tyagi to include him in family property, and that a case regarding this has been filed at Chappar police station.

Sudha demanded that authorities investigate the disputed documents, prevent any party from taking law into their own hands while civil court cases are pending, and provide security to her family. Yogendra Verma, claiming to represent the International Sant Mahasabha, warned in a media statement that a delegation would soon meet Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on behalf of Sudha Tyagi and Shivnandani to apprise him how the legacy of freedom fighter Shraddhanand Tyagi is being misused to grab property.

The property dispute matters are reportedly pending in court. No official response has emerged from the accused parties regarding Sudha Tyagi's allegations. Verification of the allegations will only be possible following judicial process and relevant investigation.
