Man wanted in drug trafficking case arrested in Bahraich district

Ram Ji Soni, son of Krishna Kumar Soni, approximately 35 years of age and a resident of Station Road Rupaideeha in Bahraich district, was apprehended near Ramdoot Kalash Store on Station Road in Rupaideeha town. The arrest was made under the direction of Superintendent of Police Bahraich Vishwajeet Srivastava as part of an ongoing special campaign aimed at curbing crime and criminals, arresting wanted accused persons, and exercising effective control over the illegal trafficking of narcotic substances.

The police operation was supervised by Additional Superintendent of Police Rural Durga Prasad Tiwari and Circle Officer Nanpara Chitranshu Gautam, and was led by Inspector In-Charge Harendra Kumar Mishra. The police team achieved success in apprehending the wanted accused based on information received from an informer.

The case dates back to a joint operation conducted by Rupaideeha police station and the Sashastra Seema Bal. On 06.09.2026 at 23.55 hours, the joint team had arrested one Shakila Bibi, wife of Mohammad Islam alias Lal Badshah, approximately 40 years of age and a resident of Dashehra Bag, Nai Basti in Rupaideeha police station area of Bahraich district. She was arrested from Dashehra Bag within the Rupaideeha police station jurisdiction during an operation to prevent the trafficking of narcotic substances. At the time of her arrest, 116 grams of illegal smack was recovered from her possession.

In connection with that seizure, Case Number 237/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act was registered at Rupaideeha police station. Shakila Bibi was sent to the Hon'ble Court Bahraich following the registration of the case. However, another accused connected to the same case remained at large, and efforts were underway to trace and arrest him.

Acting on intelligence received today, 13.09.2026, the police team successfully traced and arrested Ram Ji Soni from near Ramdoot Kalash Store on Station Road in Rupaideeha town. Following the necessary legal procedures, he was also sent to the Hon'ble Court Bahraich.

Ram Ji Soni has a criminal history with multiple cases registered against him at Rupaideeha police station. His record includes Case Number 171/2021 under Sections 418, 424, 426 of the Indian Penal Code, Case Number 283/2021 under Sections 386, 506 IPC, Case Number 288/2022 under Sections 323, 504, 506 IPC, and the current Case Number 237/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act, all registered at Rupaideeha police station in Bahraich district.
