Vanpurwa Residents Allege Government Land Encroachment Resumed Despite Earlier Demolition
Residents of Vanpurwa in the tehsil have alleged that illegal occupation of government land is continuing, despite earlier demolition action.
Residents of Vanpurwa in the tehsil have alleged that illegal occupation of government land is continuing, despite earlier demolition action. They have specifically raised concerns over Arazi numbers 486 and 487, which they said fall under Gram Samaj and Jalauni categories of land.
According to the residents, demolition action had earlier been carried out on these parcels. However, they alleged that illegal occupation was being carried out again on the same government land. The allegations point to what they described as an ongoing game involving land mafias in Vanpurwa and the surrounding land belonging to Gram Samaj and Jalauni categories.
The complainants have also levelled serious allegations against the current lekhpal, Muzaffar Hussain, and the kanoongo. They alleged that government land was being occupied through fake sale deeds, or “farzi bainame”.
The residents further claimed that whenever a complaint about illegal occupation was submitted on the Chief Minister’s portal, IGRS, the lekhpal submitted a fake and incorrect report without visiting the spot. They alleged that reports were being prepared without an on-site inspection and used to show that the complaint had been dealt with.
The residents also alleged that the lekhpal had the protection of some white-collar leaders in the area. They said this alleged support had allowed the process to continue despite complaints about the government land.
The residents claimed that, contrary to the government’s intention, complaints were being disposed of only on paper. They alleged that incorrect reports were uploaded on the portal and the matter was suppressed, which had emboldened the land mafias.
In this connection, the residents have demanded a high-level inquiry by the District Magistrate and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate. They have also sought that the Gram Samaj land be freed from illegal occupation and that action be taken against the lekhpal found guilty.
