UP Cabinet Approves Maharishi Mahesh Yogi International Agricultural University

The Uttar Pradesh cabinet has approved the establishment of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi International Agricultural University. The decision has been welcomed with joy across the Maharishi Sansthan family. Institute officials thanked Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay and all members of the cabinet for the move.

University to Come Up in Bilhaur, Kanpur

Following the cabinet's approval, the university will be set up in Bilhaur in Kanpur district. Institute president Ajay Prakash Srivastava said the university will prove to be an important milestone not just for Uttar Pradesh but for the agriculture and higher education sector across the entire country.

Srivastava said the university will realise the visionary thinking of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, which envisaged the holistic development of farmers and society through a scientific approach, conservation of natural resources and organic farming. He expressed confidence that the institution would also make an important contribution to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's resolve of a Developed India by 2047.

Organic Farming Vision

On the occasion, institute vice-president Rahul Bhardwaj thanked the Yogi government and said that with the establishment of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi International Agricultural University, Maharishi Ji's dream of making India a global leader in the field of organic farming was set to come true.

Governing body member Pankaj Sharma said that through this agricultural university, advanced farming techniques, scientific research and modern methods of natural and organic farming would be taken to farmers. He said important work would be done towards increasing farmers' income, making farming more profitable and promoting innovation in the agriculture sector.

A Centre for Education and Research

Sharma said the university would become an excellent centre for education, research and innovation, where effective coordination of knowledge and technology would be established among agricultural scientists, researchers, students and farmers. This, he said, would give new direction and fresh energy to the agriculture sector in Uttar Pradesh and across the country.
