Three drug traffickers arrested with 72,000 narcotic capsules in Muzaffarnagar crackdown

Three drug traffickers were arrested by Civil Lines police in Muzaffarnagar during a major crackdown on illegal narcotics under Operation Savera. The accused were caught red-handed transporting a massive haul of banned substances, including 72,000 narcotic capsules, 549 narcotic injections, and a Maruti Baleno car used in the smuggling operation. Police estimate the seized drugs are worth approximately six lakh sixty-five thousand rupees.

Acting on a tip-off during routine checking, the police team received information that three men were approaching from Mall Road carrying illegal drugs. Officers immediately cordoned off the area and apprehended all three suspects. The arrested individuals have been identified as Deepak, son of Rohtash, aged around 26 years, a resident of Tirth Colony near Railway Station, Khatauli, originally from Kutubpur village in Chappar; Kaleem, son of Afaq, aged around 29 years, from Baghroli in Kharkhoda area of Meerut district; and Junaid, son of Ikbal, aged around 26 years, from Jula Wali Gali near Mustafi Cemetery in Lohiya Nagar, Meerut.

The recovered contraband includes 48,000 brown Tramadol capsules and 24,000 blue capsules manufactured by Spasomovil company, along with 50 injections from Avil company and 499 from Pentacil company. A numberless Baleno car used in trafficking was also seized. A case has been registered at Civil Lines police station under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act.

During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed they were engaged in drug supply operations. They claimed to source the medicines from a Hapur-based contact via WhatsApp and sold them at inflated prices based on demand. These prescription-only drugs are typically used for medical purposes but are being misused for intoxication. Civil Lines police are now investigating the forward and backward links to trace the source and wider network behind the illegal supply chain while examining the criminal history of the arrested traffickers.
