SWISS Launches Five Weekly Direct Flights Between Bengaluru And Zurich
SWISS launches five weekly nonstop flights between Bengaluru and Zurich, making Bengaluru its third Indian destination with direct Switzerland service.
The inaugural SWISS flight LX140 from Zurich arrived in Bengaluru on Wednesday, making the city the airline’s third Indian destination with direct flights to Switzerland.
The new service also makes Zurich the fifth European destination connected directly to Karnataka’s capital.
Five weekly flights connect Bengaluru and Zurich
SWISS said it will operate five weekly nonstop flights between Switzerland and Bengaluru, which it described as one of India’s most dynamic technology and business hubs.
The airline said the route would create opportunities for passengers travelling for business, visiting family and friends, or exploring southern India.
“With Bengaluru, we are launching more than just a new flight route. We are creating new opportunities for our guests, for Swiss companies, and for Switzerland as a business location. India is a market with enormous potential, and Bengaluru is one of Asia’s leading technology and innovation hubs,” airline CEO Jens Fehlinger said.
Fehlinger said Bengaluru was the third destination in India served directly by SWISS after Delhi and Mumbai.
“Alongside Delhi and Mumbai, Bengaluru is our third destination in India. We are making a targeted investment in the growth of our long-haul network while also strengthening Switzerland’s international connectivity,” he said.
“In an increasingly interconnected world, personal encounters and direct exchanges are more important than ever,” Fehlinger added.
Flight timings and tourism links
The airline said LX 140 will depart from Zurich daily, except Mondays and Wednesdays, and reach Bengaluru nine hours later on the following day.
The westbound LX 141 service will leave Bengaluru daily, except Tuesdays and Thursdays, and arrive in Zurich on the same day.
The route is also significant for Switzerland’s tourism sector, with Karnataka contributing the third-largest number of tourists from India to Switzerland after Maharashtra and the Delhi-National Capital Region, according to Simon Bosshart, Chief Marketing Officer, Switzerland Tourism.
The direct connection therefore links Bengaluru’s technology and business activity with Switzerland’s business and tourism interests, while adding another European destination to the city’s international flight network.
