Student groups clash in Raibareli over membership drive, police intervene

A confrontation erupted between Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad activists in Raibareli over a membership drive that quickly escalated into a heated clash, prompting senior police and administrative officials to rush to the scene.

The trouble began when a debate broke out between workers of the Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha and ABVP over their respective membership campaigns. The argument soon turned into a full-blown confrontation. ABVP workers leveled allegations of indecent behavior against the Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha activists. The dispute intensified to the point where both sides came face to face.

The situation took a dramatic turn when a sharp exchange erupted between the SP district president and the city Kotwali in-charge. In the confrontation, the angry Kotwal advised the district president to wear bangles and stay within his limits. A video of this entire episode has now gone viral on social media.

Upon receiving information, CO Ashish Nigam, City Magistrate Ram Avtar and SDM Sadar Gautam Singh reached the spot. The officials held talks with both sides in an attempt to calm the situation. However, SP workers and the MLA began demanding the removal of the city Kotwal. During this standoff, a scuffle broke out between police and SP activists. A video of the incident has surfaced showing police pushing SP MLA Rahul Lodhi.

CO City Ashish Nigam said that both sides have been pacified after counseling them about the matter. The entire case is being investigated.
