Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer: Peter Parker Seeks Help from Bruce Banner, Faces the Hulk

Sony Pictures has unveiled the trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth installment in the superhero franchise directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. Starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker and Zendaya as MJ, the film features the duo as strangers with a shared past. Notably, the two actors recently tied the knot in real life.

The trailer begins with Peter Parker, struggling to control his superpowers, seeking help from Bruce Banner, played by Mark Ruffalo. Parker admits he is “completely out of control” and needs to “fix whatever this is right now.” His inability to manage his powers leads to a dramatic crash through a wedding roof while swinging across the city. Parker turns to Banner, who has managed to keep his mutating DNA in check to suppress the Hulk, hoping for a solution.

In a scenario reminiscent of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Parker sought help from Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), he asks Banner to retain the best parts of his abilities while eliminating the rest. However, Banner warns him, much like Strange did, that nature cannot be selectively controlled, asking, “How would you decide which parts of nature are good or bad?” The situation escalates when Parker faces off against the Hulk, who is determined to smash him but ends up entangled in Spider-Man’s webs.

The trailer also touches on Parker’s emotional struggles following the events of No Way Home. He finds it hard to stay away from his old friends MJ and Ned, who no longer remember him. Watching them live their lives without him, even livestreaming their moments, leaves him disheartened. When MJ introduces herself to him, Parker awkwardly coughs, clearly affected by her presence. His jealousy is evident as he sees her getting close to another man.

Later, Spider-Man reconnects with MJ, gaining her trust and urging her to join him as she faces danger. As Parker battles loneliness, he finds unexpected allies in his former girlfriend and Frank Castle, also known as The Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal.

The advance booking for Spider-Man: Brand New Day began on Thursday, although the film is set to release in Indian cinemas on July 31. Fans have noted discrepancies in the reported runtime, with international websites listing it as 2 hours and 30 minutes, while PVR’s official website shows it as five minutes shorter. This sparked speculation that the movie might have been trimmed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

However, Sony Pictures India clarified on their official X (formerly Twitter) handle that the film has not yet been submitted to the CBFC in India, dismissing any reports about certification as inaccurate. “For verified information, please follow our official channels,” the post read.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day promises a mix of action, emotional depth, and unexpected alliances, making it one of the most anticipated superhero films of the year.
