Aligarh scooter rider dragged by trailer, escapes with quick rescue by traffic police

A scooter rider in Aligarh had a narrow escape on Tuesday evening after being dragged for several meters by a speeding trailer at the busy Khereshwar intersection. The victim, identified as Girraj, a resident of Kurwai village in the Gabhana area, was crossing the junction when the heavy vehicle struck him.

Girraj was traveling from a cement warehouse located near Khereshwar intersection toward the city on his scooter when the incident occurred. As he was crossing the road, a trailer coming from the Delhi side caught his vehicle and dragged both the rider and his scooter for several meters. Eyewitnesses at the scene described the harrowing moments as the scooter remained wedged under the trailer.

Fortunately, the scooter got stuck in front of the trailer rather than Girraj himself coming directly under the vehicle. Traffic personnel present at the spot immediately rushed to help and managed to pull out both the scooter and its rider from beneath the trailer. The quick response by the traffic officials prevented what could have been a fatal accident.

In a surprising turn of events, the trailer driver was allowed to leave the scene after the rescue operation. No immediate action appears to have been taken against the vehicle or its driver despite the serious nature of the incident.

The Khereshwar intersection is known for heavy traffic, and this incident has once again raised concerns about road safety at the busy junction. Such accidents highlight the dangers faced by two-wheeler riders on roads shared with heavy commercial vehicles, particularly at major intersections where visibility and speed management become critical factors in preventing mishaps.
