Sitapur groups demand cow protection law, farmer price control, sugar mill reopening from UP CM

Two social organizations from Sitapur district in Uttar Pradesh have submitted a letter to the Chief Minister demanding immediate action on five key public welfare issues. The Khatu Shyam Sena Trust and Kurmi Utthaan Samiti sent the letter on August 31, raising concerns related to cow protection, farmers' rights, sugar mills, and local infrastructure.

The first and most prominent demand calls for declaring the cow as the national mother, urging the government to take concrete steps for the protection and respect of cows. The second demand focuses on improving conditions at government-run cow shelters across the state, ensuring adequate fodder, water, and proper care for the animals housed there.

The third demand directly addresses farmers' concerns, seeking the right for cultivators to determine the price of their own crops. The organizations argue that farmers should receive fair value for their produce based on their labor and input costs. The fourth demand calls for the reopening of closed sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh, which the groups believe would provide better market access and timely payment to sugarcane farmers.

The fifth demand is specific to the Maholi assembly constituency, where the organizations have asked for improvements to the electricity supply system. Residents have been facing persistent power-related issues that need urgent resolution.

The letter represents a coordinated effort by the two groups to address both statewide policy matters and local infrastructure concerns. It remains to be seen how the state government and administration respond to these demands.
