Sisters tie rakhi to jailed brothers at Banda District Prison on Raksha Bandhan

Sisters tied rakhi to their brothers lodged in Banda District Jail on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, with the jail administration making special arrangements to celebrate the festival inside the prison premises. Following government directives, special meeting facilities were organized for male and female inmates to meet their family members and siblings on the auspicious day.

According to jail administration officials, a total of 445 family members visited the prison to meet the inmates. In 12 batches, 324 women and 120 children came to meet 208 male prisoners, while one man visited a female inmate. Sisters tied rakhi on their brothers' wrists, fed them sweets, and prayed for their long life, happiness, and prosperity. Many emotional moments were witnessed as siblings reunited to celebrate the festival together.

To create a festive atmosphere inside the jail complex, the administration made special arrangements including music. The meetings were organized in batches to control crowds and ensure smooth proceedings without any inconvenience. Adequate police force was also deployed outside the jail premises to maintain peace and security during the celebrations.

Senior Jail Superintendent Shashi Kant Singh extended Raksha Bandhan greetings to all inmates. He said that Raksha Bandhan symbolizes the unbreakable bond of love and affection between brothers and sisters. He emphasized that the festival is not just a celebration but also conveys the message of love, respect, trust, and fulfilling responsibilities toward each other in relationships. Prison officials including Jailor Santosh Rawat and Deputy Jailor Ranjit Kumar Yadav were present during the event.

The special arrangements ensured that inmates could celebrate the traditional festival with their loved ones despite being incarcerated, bringing moments of joy and emotional connection within the confines of the prison walls.
