Shravasti Forest Department launches drive to protect Gangetic dolphins and crocodiles

The Forest Department in Shravasti launched a special public awareness campaign on conservation of aquatic life and maintaining environmental balance under the directions of the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Shravasti. The campaign, held in gram panchayat Rampur Jabdi under Kakaradari range, focused on educating villagers about the importance of Gangetic dolphins and crocodiles and measures for their protection.

Forest Department officials and staff organized a gathering where they interacted with local villagers and dignitaries. Addressing the audience, Forest Guard Sheshmani Mishra said that Gangetic dolphins and crocodiles are not only symbols of our rivers but also play an important role in keeping the aquatic ecosystem clean and balanced. He appealed to villagers to avoid illegal hunting, use of deadly nets, or any activities that harm aquatic creatures in rivers, and urged them to immediately inform the Forest Department about any such incidents.

Village head Mainuddin Ansari appreciated the Forest Department's initiative and said that the villagers of Rampur Jabdi will extend full cooperation in protecting aquatic life. He said that maintaining river cleanliness and protecting these rare creatures is a shared responsibility of the entire society.

The awareness program was attended by Forest Guard Sheshmani Mishra, Village Head Mainuddin Ansari, daily wage worker Lalji Yadav along with other Forest Department employees, local dignitaries, and a large number of villagers. All participants unanimously pledged to conserve Gangetic dolphins and crocodiles.
