Shivamogga MP Advocates for Road and Power Connectivity in Sagar Taluk, Seeks Proposals from Officials

Shivamogga MP B.Y. Raghavendra has called on district administration officials to address key infrastructure and land-related issues in Sagar taluk, particularly in Bharangi hobli. During a meeting on Thursday, he emphasized the need to resolve challenges tied to the notification of deemed forest areas and to expedite permissions for road construction and BSNL tower installations. The meeting followed complaints raised during public consultation sessions in the region.

Mr. Raghavendra instructed officials to identify suitable land for public utilities before proceeding with the notification of deemed forest areas. He highlighted that numerous applications from Bagar Hukum cultivators seeking land grants remain pending with the government. Notifying deemed forest areas without resolving these applications could adversely impact the cultivators, he cautioned, urging officials to ensure that farmers are not harmed in the process.

The MP also directed officials to initiate the process of obtaining forest clearances for constructing rural roads, noting that many villages in the taluk suffer from inadequate road connectivity. He specifically requested proposals for improving road and power supply infrastructure in villages such as Kanurkote, Bheemeshwar, Urulgallu, Meghane, and Muppane. Additionally, he reviewed the progress of BSNL tower installations in Bharangi hobli.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalikatti, Chief Conservator of Forests K.T. Hanumanthappa, Additional Deputy Commissioner V. Abhishek, and senior forest department officials.
