Shravasti residents to press for urgent electricity crisis relief at August 25 meeting

A delegation is set to meet the Chief Engineer (Electricity) of Devi Patan Mandal, Gonda on August 25 at 11 AM to submit a memorandum highlighting severe electricity problems plaguing Shravasti district. The meeting aims to press for urgent action on multiple fronts affecting power supply to residents.

The memorandum will demand immediate replacement of burnt transformers that have not been changed on time, capacity enhancement of overloaded transformers, and repair of dilapidated power lines causing disruptions. The delegation will also raise concerns about excessive power cuts that have become a daily ordeal for people across the district.

The move comes as residents of Shravasti have been grappling with erratic electricity supply for an extended period. Transformers that have burned out due to overload or age remain unreplaced, forcing entire neighbourhoods to go without power. Many areas are serviced by transformers operating beyond their designed capacity, leading to frequent breakdowns and voltage fluctuations. Additionally, ageing and worn-out power transmission lines have compounded the crisis, making uninterrupted supply nearly impossible.

Organisers of the delegation have underscored that access to uninterrupted and adequate electricity is a fundamental right of citizens. They have asserted that it is their responsibility to raise public grievances with conviction and pursue solutions at every level. The August 25 meeting represents a concerted effort to hold authorities accountable and secure tangible commitments on infrastructure upgrades and maintenance timelines.
