Ranchi Krishi Vyapar Mela Ends with Strong Farmer Participation

The three-day Ranchi Krishi Vyapar Mela concluded on Thursday, drawing a strong turnout of farmers and significant interest from young participants. The event, aimed at promoting agriculture and allied sectors, served as a platform for knowledge exchange, showcasing new technologies, and encouraging better farming practices.

The fair featured a wide range of stalls covering horticulture, fisheries, poultry, animal husbandry, fertilisers, agricultural equipment, and value-added farm products. Farmers and visitors engaged with experts to learn about advanced cultivation techniques, innovative technologies, and emerging market opportunities.

Representatives from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research - Research Complex for Eastern Region (ICAR-RCER) highlighted their efforts to provide affordable, high-quality planting materials and seedlings. "This event allowed us to connect with thousands of farmers and share crucial technologies," an ICAR-RCER official said, adding that the mela helped build valuable contacts.

The State Industrial Development and Handicrafts Cooperative Federation (SIDHKOFED) focused on enhancing farmer engagement and promoting the organised marketing of minor forest produce. By linking farmers to cooperative networks and industries, SIDHKOFED reported a surge in enquiries, with their promotional materials often running out by evening.

The mela also sparked growing interest among youth in agriculture, signalling a positive shift towards modern and sustainable farming practices. Organisers and exhibitors expressed satisfaction with the event's impact, noting that such initiatives play a key role in empowering farmers and boosting rural economies.
