Rae Bareli Police Arrest Six, Say Student Robbed Trader For Rs 50,000

Police in Rae Bareli have claimed to have solved the robbery case involving bullion trader Rishi Soni, with the arrest of six alleged inter-district criminals, including Saurabh Sharma, a student of Operation Theatre Technology.

According to the police, the accused allegedly carried out the robbery for just Rs 50,000 needed for studies and other expenses. During questioning, it was revealed that the student, along with his associates, targeted the bullion trader and executed the robbery. Police said all the accused are members of an inter-district robbery gang and are residents of Lucknow.

The police have recovered the looted jewellery and the car allegedly used in the incident from the accused. The case relates to bullion trader Rishi Soni, a resident of Bachhrawan town, who runs a jewellery shop in Asahan Jagatpur under the Shivgarh police station area.

On Saturday evening, Rishi Kumar was returning home when criminals travelling in a car allegedly attacked him with an iron rod, injured him and looted jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh. After the incident, a case was registered and teams were formed to work out the robbery.

Rae Bareli SP Ravi Kumar said an FIR was registered in the matter and the Bachhrawan police and SOG team were deployed to uncover the case. The accused involved in the incident were arrested from Shivgarh Road, he said.

Those arrested have been identified as Saurabh Sharma, Abhay Rastogi alias Harsh Rastogi, Om Singh, Krishna Kumar Yadav, Ayush Kumar Gaur alias Anshuman, a resident of Dhanawar, and Rajnayak Yadav. Police said the accused were linked to the PM Awas Vikas Colony area under the Sushant Golf City police station limits of Lucknow district.

Police also said that Saurabh originally belongs to Gulabkheda Majre Thulendi in Bachhrawan, while Ayush is originally from Maldah Chatti under Sikandarpur police station in Ballia district. Krishna Kumar Yadav is originally from Hajipur Baruwar village under Karaundikala police station in Sultanpur district.

However, according to the police, all the accused had been living in Lucknow for a long time. SP Ravi Kumar of Rae Bareli said the investigation led to the arrests and recovery connected to the robbery.
