Gonda Police Arrest Three In Shopkeeper Robbery, Recover Cameras And Car

Mankapur police in Gonda district have disclosed the robbery case involving shopkeeper Shubham Gupta, a resident of Basti, and arrested three accused in the matter. The case relates to a robbery that took place on 14 September on the Maskanwa-Mankapur road. Police said the disclosure was made today, Saturday, late evening at 4:30.

In a major action, Mankapur Kotwali police arrested Mohanlal Chauhan, Karan and Abhi Pandey alias Golu, all residents of Basti. From the possession of the arrested accused, police recovered the looted 2 cameras, three mobile phones and one Swift Dzire car.

After the arrest, Mankapur police took all three accused to Gonda Medical College for medical examination. They were then produced before the court. The court sent all three accused to judicial custody.

The case was registered at Mankapur Kotwali on 15 September on the complaint of Shubham Gupta. In his complaint, Shubham Gupta had stated that he is a resident of village Devya Bax Pandey under Paikolia police station in Basti district.

According to the complaint, Shubham Gupta had come with his companion Sandeep Gupta on a motorcycle to Karohanath Mandir Machhli Bazaar to take photographs. While they were returning home to Basti, four miscreants travelling in a speeding car came from the Maskanwa side on the Mankapur-Maskanwa road and stopped them.

The accused then snatched the bags of Shubham Gupta and his companion and fled. The bags contained expensive cameras and equipment, according to the complaint.

Mankapur Kotwali police registered a case on 15 September itself on the basis of Shubham Gupta’s written complaint and began searching for the accused involved in the incident. Police said the accused have now been arrested and sent to jail.

Mankapur Kotwal Tej Pratap Singh said that on 14 September, the complainants had come from Basti to the police station area to take photographs. He said that while they were leaving after taking photographs, the robbery was carried out against them.

Tej Pratap Singh said that the case was registered on 15 September and that today, 26 September, the accused were arrested and sent to jail. He also said that further action is being taken by Mankapur Kotwali police in the entire matter.

Police have also questioned the arrested accused. According to Mankapur Kotwali police, some more information has been received during the questioning, and other action in the case is continuing.
