Pratapgarh police climb to 6th rank in state mobile phone recovery rankings

Pratapgarh police have achieved a remarkable breakthrough in the recovery of lost and stolen mobile phones through the Central Equipment Identity Register portal. The district has surged from 40th position in April to an impressive 6th rank in July in the CEIR mobile recovery rankings across the state, climbing 34 places in just a few months.

Under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Deepak Bhukar and the effective supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (East) Alok Kumar Bhati, the police launched a sustained campaign to recover missing and stolen mobile phones using the CEIR portal. Since April, Pratapgarh police have recovered 953 lost and stolen mobile phones with an estimated total value of Rs 1.61 crore. After completing necessary verification and legal procedures, the recovered phones were returned to their rightful owners, who expressed gratitude and praised the police's efficient action.

The district's mobile recovery rate has shown consistent improvement, rising from approximately 40 percent in April to 48.46 percent, then 65.3 percent, and reaching 87.9 percent by July. In May, Pratapgarh reached 21st rank, and continued progress through June brought the district to its current 6th position.

Additional Superintendent of Police Alok Kumar Bhati regularly reviewed CEIR-related operations, while Surveillance Cell in-charge Ajit Singh provided technical support and guidance by coordinating with cyber cell teams at the police station level across the district. Police used IMEI numbers to technically identify, trace, and recover the mobile phones.

This achievement by Pratapgarh police is being recognized as the result of technology-driven policing, improved supervision, continuous monitoring, and effective teamwork. The significant jump in rankings demonstrates how systematic use of modern tracking systems can deliver tangible results in addressing mobile phone theft and loss.
