Pratapgarh police arrest warrant accused Harishankar Yadav after years on run

Police in Pratapgarh have arrested a warrant accused who had been evading authorities for several years. The arrest was made by the Aspur Devsara police station team following a non-bailable warrant issued by the court.

The accused, identified as Harishankar Yadav, son of late Ram Achhaivar, approximately 42 years old, was apprehended from his residence in village Daudpur under Aspur Devsara police station limits. The arrest came as part of an ongoing drive against wanted and warrant accused persons being conducted under the supervision of Pratapgarh Superintendent of Police Deepak Bhukar.

Sub-Inspector Awadh Raj Yadav, accompanied by Constable Ajit Chauhan, was conducting area checks and searching for warrant accused when they located and detained Yadav from his home. The non-bailable warrant against him was issued in case number 24/2017 under Section 138(B) of the Electricity Act by the Special Court for Electricity Act matters in Pratapgarh.

The case dates back to 2017 and relates to violations under the Electricity Act, which typically deals with offenses such as theft of electricity or tampering with electrical installations. The fact that a non-bailable warrant was issued indicates the seriousness with which the court viewed the alleged offense.

Police have completed the necessary legal proceedings following the arrest. The drive against warrant accused forms part of the district police's efforts to ensure that those evading court orders are brought to justice. Such operations send a clear message that individuals cannot escape legal consequences indefinitely, even in cases that may be several years old.
