National Lok Adalat in Sambhal on September 12 to resolve pending disputes

The third National Lok Adalat of the year 2026 will be organized in Sambhal district on Saturday, September 12. The event will be held under the aegis of the District Legal Services Authority, Sambhal, located in Chandausi.

The Lok Adalat will commence at 10 AM and will focus on resolving various types of pending and disputed cases through mutual reconciliation and compromise. This initiative provides litigants with an opportunity to settle their disputes through mutual consent rather than prolonged court proceedings.

The National Lok Adalat has a distinctive feature that allows parties to end their disputes through mutual agreement. A wide range of matters can be resolved in the Lok Adalat, including electricity and water bills, loan recovery cases of banks and NBFCs, outstanding dues of BSNL, cases related to cheque bounce, compoundable traffic challans, motor accident claims, labour disputes, consumer matters, and revenue-related cases.

In addition to these categories, efforts will also be made to facilitate reconciliation in matrimonial and family disputes, excluding divorce cases. When a dispute is resolved with the consent of both parties in the Lok Adalat, the concerned bench passes an award which is as effective as a decree of a civil court. The emphasis in such proceedings is on mutual agreement rather than on the victory or defeat of any party.

If both parties fail to reach a consensus, the matter is sent back to the regular court for further proceedings.

To ensure that maximum people benefit from the National Lok Adalat, the District Legal Services Authority is conducting an extensive awareness campaign. Information is being disseminated at public places, tehsil and development block offices, municipal bodies, and other locations. Additionally, digital media platforms are being utilized to reach out to the public and inform them about the event.
