Pratapgarh launches third National Lok Adalat to resolve disputes through mutual settlement

The National Lok Adalat was inaugurated in the district court premises in Pratapgarh, marking the launch of the third such adalat being organised this year. District Judge Rajeev Kamal Pandey inaugurated the Lok Adalat by cutting the ribbon, following which the programme was taken forward with the lighting of the lamp.

During the programme, detailed information was provided regarding the simple and speedy resolution of various cases at minimal cost through the National Lok Adalat, including accident claims, matrimonial disputes, maintenance matters and other disputes. It was explained that the Lok Adalat is an effective medium for resolving disputes on the basis of mutual reconciliation and compromise between the parties.

Various departments and institutions set up stalls in the Lok Adalat premises. Among these, the amla (gooseberry) sweet prepared by jail inmates at their stall remained a centre of attraction throughout the event.

All judicial officers were present at the programme, including Civil Judge (Senior Division) and Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Shambhavi. The officers appealed to the people to take advantage of the Lok Adalat and get their pending cases resolved through mutual settlement and compromise.

The Lok Adalat provides a platform for cost-effective dispute resolution, offering parties an opportunity to settle their long-pending matters outside the traditional courtroom process. The emphasis throughout the inaugural programme remained on encouraging people to resolve their disputes amicably through this alternative dispute resolution mechanism, which saves both time and money for litigants while reducing the burden on regular courts.
