Naiiya Nala floods cut off villages in Raibareli, crops threatened

Heavy rains have caused the Naiiya Nala in Raibareli to overflow once again, submerging several villages and cutting off critical road links across the district. Floodwater has reached Gurubakhshganj village, and multiple connecting routes including Gaughat-Majhigwan, Gurubakhshganj-Halor, Alipur-Halor, and Sukhliya-Purasi have been inundated, forcing motorcyclists and cyclists to abandon their vehicles and wade through on foot.

Residents of Majhigwan, Pahadganj, Dhakiya, Janglin, and Padariya villages are being forced to risk their lives to commute, while schoolchildren are finding it difficult to reach their institutions. Farmers have expressed serious concern as floodwater has entered their fields, threatening to rot standing crops. They blame the waterlogging on inadequate cleaning and maintenance of the Naiiya Nala.

District Magistrate Sarneet Kaur has confirmed that teams have been formed to address the waterlogging crisis across affected villages. She stated that alternative arrangements are being made to move people to safer locations and that necessary instructions have been issued to officials on the ground. The administration is taking special care to ensure that no further problems arise from the flooding situation.

The recurring overflow of the Naiiya Nala has become a persistent problem for the region, disrupting daily life and livelihoods. With agricultural fields submerged and transportation paralyzed, local residents are demanding urgent action to prevent future flooding. The district administration's response will be closely watched as affected communities struggle with the immediate crisis and fear of long-term damage to crops and property.
