Myanmar national arrested in Aligarh for forged Indian documents and illegal entry

The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad has arrested a Myanmar national in Aligarh for illegally entering India and obtaining fraudulent Indian identity documents. The accused, identified as Rizwan alias Rafiq, approximately 28 years old, was apprehended on August 21, 2026, near Nada Chowk on Mathura Bypass in the jurisdiction of Rorawar police station.

According to the ATS, Rizwan, a Myanmar national, illegally entered India and subsequently acquired forged Indian documents to establish himself as an Indian citizen. He obtained these documents under the false identity of Rizwan son of Javed Khan, resident of 17/1510 Islam Nagar, Bhujpura, Aligarh. The fraudulent documents included an Aadhaar card, PAN card, and passport, all bearing the fabricated Indian identity.

Inspector Mahendra Pratap Singh of ATS headquarters, along with constables Abhishek Kumar Dixit, Jagdish Kumar Chauhan, and Yashpal Singh, conducted the operation that led to the arrest. A case numbered 410/26 has been registered at the police station under sections 318(4), 336, 337, and 340 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Section 21 of the Foreigners Act 2025 and Section 12 of the Passport Act 1967.

During the arrest, police recovered crucial evidence from the accused including a bank passbook, Aadhaar card, a copy of a UNHCR card, cash amounting to 500 rupees, two mobile phones with SIM cards, and an additional SIM card. The recovery of the UNHCR card suggests the accused may have initially entered India as a refugee before fraudulently obtaining Indian citizenship documents.

The accused will be produced before the competent court as per legal procedure. This arrest highlights ongoing concerns about illegal immigration and the sophisticated methods used by foreign nationals to forge Indian identity documents, posing potential security risks to the nation.
