Minister Vanni Arasu Inspects Rain-Affected Kallakurichi, Orders Swift Emergency Response

Officials in Kallakurichi district have been directed to identify vulnerable areas, strengthen preparedness and respond immediately to problems linked to rain.

The direction was issued by Minister for Social Justice Vanni Arasu during an inspection of rain-affected areas in the district.

Accompanied by Collector J.E. Padmaja, Arasu visited Porasakurichi and Virugavur villages in Thiyagadurgam block.

He said the district administration had taken precautionary measures for the Northeast monsoon.

Focus on emergency response

Officials were also asked to compile details of local volunteers and coordinate with them during emergencies.

The Minister directed Health department personnel to monitor all areas to prevent outbreaks of infectious diseases.

The instructions also covered basic services during the rain-related situation. Officials were told to ensure chlorinated drinking water, uninterrupted electricity supply and prompt delivery of essential services.

Arasu further said calls received at the district control room should be attended to immediately and referred to the departments concerned for action.

The directions place the focus on early identification of vulnerable locations, coordination with volunteers and quick departmental action when residents report problems.
