Man killed by speeding dumper on highway while returning from mother's funeral

A 27-year-old man was killed when a speeding dumper collided with his motorcycle on Friday night in Pratapgarh district. The victim, Motilal Verma, had returned to his village from Mumbai to attend his mother's funeral.

The accident occurred around eight o'clock on Friday night on the Lohangpur-Sukhpal Nagar Highway near Jahergo village, ahead of the Medical College. Motilal Verma, a resident of Gadai Chakdeiya in Antu police station area, had gone to Ram-Ram Chauraha in Gayghat on his motorcycle for some work. While returning, a speeding dumper rammed into his motorcycle near Jahergo village. He died on the spot.

Motilal earned a livelihood for his family by driving a vehicle in Mumbai. His mother Genda Devi had passed away some time ago. He had come to his village from Mumbai to participate in her last rites. During this time, the road accident devastated the family.

Motilal was the fourth among five brothers, Basant Lal, Sheetal Lal, Munshi Lal and Rakesh. He also has two sisters. He is survived by his wife Neelam Verma and three young daughters. The daughters are Mayra, four years old, Jayra, two years old, and Nayra, just one month old.

Police reached the spot after being informed about the incident and took possession of the body, sending it for post-mortem. Family members have been inconsolable since the accident. The most tragic situation is that of the deceased's wife and three infant daughters, who have lost their father.
