Lucknow wins mandal-level wushu competition in Raibareli district

A mandal-level secondary school wushu competition was organised at Dr. Rizvi Memorial Public School in Lalganj town in Raibareli. The competition saw Lucknow finish first while the Raibareli team secured the second position.

The competition was inaugurated by Ajay Singh Chandel, the district secretary of the Secondary Sports Association, who met and interacted with the players before formally opening the event. Students of the host school presented a welcome dance performance to mark the occasion.

The judging panel comprised Dr. Ataur Rahman, Santlal, Chandra Prakash Tiwari, Jitendra Prajapati, Suyash Shukla, Dimpy Tiwari, Purnima Patel and Nimisha Yadav, who performed their roles as referees during the competition.

In the girls under-17 category, selections were made in various weight divisions. In the 45 kg weight class Sonam was selected, in 48 kg Manshi Verma was chosen, in 52 kg Shalani was picked, and in the 56 kg category Vartika Singh was selected. In the boys under-17 category, Tejasva Yadav was selected in the 45 kg weight class, Praduman Singh in 52 kg, and Vinayak Patel in the 60 kg weight division.

In the under-19 girls category, Deepika Verma was selected in the 45 kg weight class, Jagriti Mishra in 48 kg, Shraddha Verma in 52 kg, Sanjna Rawat in 56 kg, and Gauri Vishwakarma in the 70 kg weight category. In the boys under-19 category, Vivek Kumar was chosen in the 48 kg weight class, Umesh Rai in 52 kg, Samrat Pratap in 56 kg, Nitis Kashyap in 60 kg, Harsh Sher Bahadur in 70 kg, and Vishesh in the 75-plus kg weight division.

On this occasion, district wushu secretary Poonam Yadav, Mohammad Anish, Sadanand Srivastava, Jeet Bahadur Singh, Surendra Kumar, Sujit Kumar, Bhavna Verma, Akash Maurya, Sanju Kumar, Suyash Shukla and others were present.
