K. Annamalai, former Tamil Nadu BJP president and ex-IPS officer, is set to announce the name, policies, and structure of his new political party on September 14. The announcement will be part of his ongoing 'We the Leader' movement aimed at engaging youth. Annamalai has initiated a training camp in his hometown, Aravakurichi, and plans to tour the state in November and December.

The new party will focus on two key areas: the OBC and MBC voter base, and the Kongu region, which holds 57 assembly seats and is considered crucial for political entry in Tamil Nadu. The party's district coordinators will all be under 50 years of age. Annamalai aims to appeal to middle-class farmers and traders in the Kongu region, avoiding any specific religious identity.

Annamalai joined the BJP in 2020 after resigning as a Karnataka cadre IPS officer. He served as Tamil Nadu BJP vice president and later as state president until April 2025. During his tenure, he worked to strengthen the party's booth-level organization and led initiatives like the 'En Mann, En Makkal' (My Land, My People) campaign. However, he resigned from the BJP on June 2, citing differences with the party's top leadership over the past 18 months.

Annamalai has stated that his new party will contest the Tamil Nadu assembly elections in 2031. He has also emphasized his commitment to bringing change to the state's political landscape.
