Bhopal. The absence of two prominent leaders from the Madhya Pradesh BJP core group meeting has triggered fresh political questions within the party. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia did not attend the meeting for the second consecutive time, while former Home Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra was not invited to the meeting this time.

The developments have led to renewed discussion inside the BJP, particularly over Narottam Mishra’s position in the core group. His exclusion from the invitation list has intensified speculation about whether he will continue to remain part of the group.

The BJP organisation has not made any official announcement that Narottam Mishra has been removed from the core group. No formal clarification has also been issued on why he was not invited to the meeting.

According to sources, the state organisation had discussed the issue of inviting Narottam Mishra with the central leadership. It is being claimed that he was not invited after approval was reportedly not received from the central leadership. If this information is correct, the development has raised fresh questions about the organisational equations within the Madhya Pradesh BJP.

Narottam Mishra had also not attended the previous core group meeting held on 1 October. At that time, he had said that he was not even aware of the meeting. However, the issue has become more prominent after it emerged that he was not invited this time. The question now being discussed is whether this was only a matter related to the invitation for one meeting or whether there could be a change in his role and scope within the organisation. There is no answer to this question at present.

Scindia’s absence for the second consecutive time has also become a subject of discussion in political circles. Sources associated with the organisation said that his absence was due to his engagement in Delhi. However, there has been no official confirmation of any disagreement or displeasure linked to his absence.

Scindia and Narottam Mishra have both had separate identities in the politics of the Madhya Pradesh BJP. Because of this, Scindia’s repeated absence and the decision not to invite Mishra have increased the political attention around the core group meeting. At the same time, the party has not officially confirmed that either development is connected to any internal dispute or organisational change.

The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Madhya Pradesh BJP president Hemant Khandelwal, state in-charge Biplab Kumar Deb, organisation general secretary Chandrashekhar, co-in-charge Rekha Sharma, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Deputy Chief Ministers Jagdish Devda and Rajendra Shukla, among several senior leaders.

Member of Parliament VD Sharma, ministers Prahlad Singh Patel, Rakesh Singh and Sampatiya Uikey were also present. Former minister Arvind Bhadoria and Member of Parliament Lata Wankhede, along with other office-bearers, attended the meeting.

The discussions were not limited to organisational issues. The meeting also focused on the achievements of the government and upcoming programmes. The leaders discussed the achievements of the government’s three-year term. They also considered a proposal to make the work of ministers, legislators and Members of Parliament available on a public portal.

The meeting also discussed preparations for programmes to be organised across the state on the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. Emphasis was placed on effective coordination so that the maximum benefit of Central Government schemes could reach Madhya Pradesh.

As part of the action plan discussed at the meeting, there was discussion about forming special teams under the direction of the Chief Minister. These teams would be led by ministers of different departments of the state government. Their objective would be to take Central Government schemes to rural areas and speed up their implementation.

The BJP leaders also considered a plan to link one Member of Parliament with each ministry of the Central Government. Under this arrangement, state ministers, Members of Parliament and officials would work through mutual coordination so that the schemes could be implemented effectively.

A censure resolution was also passed at the meeting against a statement made by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge about the Prime Minister’s father. Through the resolution, the BJP registered its opposition to Kharge’s statement.

After the core group meeting, the main discussion has centred on Narottam Mishra not being invited and Jyotiraditya Scindia remaining absent. There is talk of an alleged lack of agreement from the central leadership in Mishra’s case, while Delhi engagements have been cited as the reason for Scindia’s absence.

The BJP organisation has not confirmed any political tussle or organisational change behind these developments. It has also not officially stated whether Narottam Mishra’s position in the core group has changed.

Attention is now on whether the state BJP organisation will issue any formal clarification about Narottam Mishra’s role. For now, the developments surrounding the meeting have intensified the debate over the internal equations within the Madhya Pradesh BJP.
