Indore excise department seizes 792 litres illegal liquor worth 5.50 lakh

The Excise Department in Indore seized 792 bulk litres of illegal liquor worth approximately Rs 5.50 lakh from a closed house in village Basandra under Sanwer circle following a tip-off from an informer.

The raid was conducted on Thursday, 10 September 2026, as part of a special campaign being run across the district against illegal sale, transportation and storage of liquor under the directions of Collector Shivam Verma. The operation was carried out under the guidance of Assistant Commissioner Excise Abhishek Tiwari.

The excise team searched a house in Gram Basandra, Sanwer circle, based on information received from an informer. During the operation, a total of 792 bulk litres of illegal liquor were recovered from the premises. The estimated market value of the seized liquor is around Rs 5.50 lakh.

According to preliminary information, the recovered liquor had been stored for sale within Madhya Pradesh. The action was led by Assistant District Excise Officers Dharmendra Joshi, Pawan Tikekar and Nidhi Sharma. The team included Excise Sub-Inspectors Jaya Mujalde and Jayesh Waskel along with excise staff who executed the operation on the ground.
