School rejects talent-poaching allegations
Hong Kong’s third medical school has rejected allegations of talent poaching after recruiting a veteran haematologist who had served at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) for nearly three decades.
The school is due to open in the 2028-29 academic year.
The recruitment has drawn attention to competition for experienced medical academics as Hong Kong prepares to expand its medical education capacity.
HKU has urged the school to seek top scholars from overseas to avoid what it called “vicious competition”.
