Preparations for the second phase of Census-2027 have gathered pace in Hathras, with District Magistrate Saty Prakash Patel stressing the need to collect accurate and error-free data. A training programme for officials and employees was organised on Monday at the auditorium of BLS International School in Tehsil Hathras.
The programme was held under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Saty Prakash Patel. It began with the district magistrate cutting a ribbon, lighting a lamp before the idol of Maa Saraswati and offering a garland. Officials and employees were briefed about the census process, the prescribed guidelines and the steps required to complete the work without errors.
Saty Prakash Patel said that under Census-2027, the self-enumeration exercise will be conducted from 16 November to 30 November 2026. After this, enumerators will visit households to conduct the census from 1 December 2026 to 4 January 2027.
The district magistrate said the census is the foundation for the country’s development. He said the accurate data collected through the exercise would play an important role in preparing future plans, managing resources better and implementing public welfare schemes effectively.
While interacting with the officials and employees attending the training, the district magistrate said the census work must be carried out with complete dedication, transparency and responsibility. He said collecting correct information from every family and recording it according to the prescribed process would be an important responsibility of the employees.
Saty Prakash Patel expressed confidence that all officials and employees would work with mutual coordination, hard work and commitment. He said their combined efforts would help Hathras district achieve an excellent performance in the census exercise.
The district magistrate also laid emphasis on starting a broad public awareness campaign for the self-enumeration programme. He said people in villages and localities should be informed about the process before self-enumeration begins on 16 November.
He said that, wherever required, people could be brought together and the self-enumeration process could be demonstrated. This would help more families complete their own enumeration, increase citizen participation and make the next stage of the census process easier.
The district magistrate said the purpose of the training was not limited to providing technical information. It was also intended to develop leadership ability and team spirit among the employees. Supervisors and concerned officers should guide the enumerators working under them, encourage them and ensure that the work was completed within the prescribed time through better coordination.
He said the information provided during training would be useful only when it was correctly applied in the field. For this reason, all employees were asked to understand the guidelines and procedures related to the census seriously.
Instructions were also issued to exercise special care while entering information in census forms. Saty Prakash Patel said every question should be understood correctly and the data should be compiled according to the prescribed rules and the information provided.
He said employees must follow the procedures explained during the training to avoid any kind of error. According to him, census data is an important means of understanding the actual condition of the country and society. Each employee must therefore carry out the assigned responsibility with impartiality and transparency.
The district magistrate further said that coordinated efforts could be made during interaction with families in the field to create awareness among eligible voters about getting their names included in the electoral roll. Special attention should be given to young people who have completed 18 years of age and other eligible persons who have not yet been able to get their names entered in the voter list.
Chief Development Officer P.N. Dixit also shared important suggestions during the programme. He said the curriculum of any training programme is important and that the lessons learned during training prove useful while working in the field.
P.N. Dixit said the better the self-enumeration process, the easier the subsequent enumeration would be. He also said that a stronger self-enumeration process would reduce the possibility of errors. He directed the employees to complete preparations in their assigned areas in advance so that the census work could be carried out smoothly and in an organised manner.
Additional District Magistrate Finance and Revenue Prashant Tiwari suggested that forms related to the questions to be asked during the census should be prepared and distributed in the concerned areas. He said this would allow people to understand the required information in advance and keep it ready before enumerators reached their homes.
According to Prashant Tiwari, this would make it easier to record information when enumerators visit households. It would also save time and reduce the possibility of errors during the census exercise.
Tehsil-level officers, master trainers and concerned employees were present at the training programme. The officials said mutual coordination, the collection of accurate data and public participation would be important for the successful completion of Census-2027.
