Nursing student found dead by suicide at Amethi college on Raksha Bandhan

A 21-year-old nursing student died by suicide at Indira Gandhi Nursing College in Amethi district on Friday, police confirmed. Deepti Yadav, a third-year General Nursing and Midwifery student, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in a room inside the college premises located within the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital complex in the Munshiganj police station area.

The tragic incident occurred on Raksha Bandhan. Yadav's body was discovered suspended by a dupatta from a ceiling fan in one of the college rooms. Upon receiving information about the incident, college authorities immediately alerted the Munshiganj police station. The discovery sent shockwaves through the institution, with panic spreading across the campus as news of the death emerged.

Yadav was a resident of Saidullapur village in the Baldiraay police station area of Sultanpur district. She was the daughter of Kunwar Bakhsh and had been pursuing her nursing degree at the college. Police officials inspected the crime scene thoroughly, examining the room and surrounding areas before taking custody of the body. The motive behind the student taking this extreme step remains unclear at this stage of the investigation.

Inspector Brajesh Singh, in-charge of Munshiganj police station, confirmed that the victim's family members have been informed about the incident. The body is being sent for post-mortem examination following their arrival. Police have launched a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation and the post-mortem report, Singh stated. Authorities are working to determine what led the young nursing student to take her own life on what is traditionally celebrated as a festival honoring sibling bonds.
