Gonda cyber police recover ₹12.44 lakh for investment fraud victim

Cyber police in Gonda district have successfully recovered ₹12,44,770 for a resident who fell victim to an investment fraud scheme. The amount has been credited back to the victim's account after police froze multiple bank accounts where the fraudsters had transferred the money.

The complainant, Rajendra Kumar, a resident of Malviya Nagar under Kotwali Nagar police station in Gonda, reported that he received a link to an investment app on his mobile phone promising opportunities in IPOs and the share market. After clicking on the link, he was added to a WhatsApp group where other members were showcasing heavy profits to lure him into investing. The cyber criminals trapped Kumar in their web and convinced him to invest money in multiple transactions.

Based on his complaint, a case numbered 009/2026 was registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station, Gonda under Sections 319(2) and 318(4) of BNS along with Section 66(D) of the IT Act. The cyber police team acted swiftly to trace the fraudulent transactions and froze the amount of ₹12,44,770 spread across various bank accounts.

Following due legal procedure, the entire frozen amount has been returned to the victim's account. The recovery operation was carried out as part of an ongoing campaign against cyber crime in the district. Upon receiving his money back, Kumar expressed his gratitude to the Gonda Police, the Cyber Police Station, and the entire team involved in the recovery.

The successful operation was led by Inspector Satya Prakash Yadav of Cyber Crime Police Station along with Head Constable Mohan Yadav and Constable Ankur Gupta. This case highlights the importance of remaining vigilant against investment scams that promise unrealistic returns through suspicious apps and online groups.
