Under Mission Shakti Phase-6.0, Hathras Police assigned two students, Monika and Ragini, the responsibility of serving as one-day station in-charges at the Cyber Crime police station. The students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya heard complaints related to cyber fraud and got an opportunity to understand the working of the police from close quarters.

The initiative was organised with the aim of promoting the safety, dignity and empowerment of women and girls. On Friday, October 16, Monika and Ragini were given the one-day responsibility at the Cyber Crime police station. During their time in the role, they listened to complaints linked to cyber fraud and observed how such complaints are handled by the police.

The programme was held under the direction of Hathras Superintendent of Police Chiranjiv Nath Sinha, and under the supervision of the Additional Superintendent of Police and the Circle Officer, Cyber. The police said the initiative was intended to build leadership skills, confidence and decision-making ability among the girls.

The students were also introduced to the process of public hearings, the disposal of complaints and the action taken by the police to prevent cybercrime. They were given an understanding of the responsibilities involved in dealing with complainants and responding to cases involving online fraud.

While performing the role of one-day station in-charges, Monika and Ragini listened carefully to the problems of people who came to the Cyber Crime police station. They heard complaints related to cyber fraud and were informed by police officers about the procedure followed after a cybercrime complaint is received.

The officers explained how such complaints are investigated. They also told the students how the police coordinate with the concerned banks and other agencies to try to stop the money involved in a fraud and get it returned to the victims.

The students were given information about the importance of digital evidence, the investigation of complaints and the procedures used to trace cybercriminals. Through this experience, they learnt about the responsibilities of the police and the importance of dealing sensitively with victims and complainants.

The programme also focused on ways to remain safe from cyber fraud. The students were made aware of fraud carried out in the name of digital arrest, fake APK files, unknown links, banking fraud and the risks of sharing personal information on social media.

They were told not to share an OTP, bank account details, PIN or password with any unknown person. The police also advised them to avoid clicking on unknown links and downloading suspicious mobile applications.

Police officers made it clear that demanding money by frightening a person through a video call in the name of a digital arrest can be a method of cyber fraud. The students were informed that anyone who falls victim to cybercrime should immediately register a complaint on helpline number 1930. They were also told that a report can be filed on the official website www.cybercrime.gov.in.

As part of the programme, Hathras Cyber Crime Police also succeeded in getting a total of ₹61,040 returned in two cases related to cyber fraud. According to the police, ₹46,000 belonging to complainant Suresh and ₹15,040 belonging to a family member of Nirmala were returned.

The return of the money provided financial relief to the affected parties. The victims expressed their gratitude to Hathras Police and the Cyber Crime police station team and appreciated the action taken by the police.

The police said that filing a complaint immediately after a cyber fraud is extremely important. If information is provided in time, the possibility of stopping the fraudulent amount and getting it returned may increase.

Hathras Police is organising various programmes under Mission Shakti Phase-6.0 to make women and girls aware and self-reliant. Giving students the responsibility of serving as station in-charges for one day is an initiative aimed at introducing them to the law, the functioning of the police and the importance of leadership.

The programme gave Monika and Ragini an opportunity to understand the responsibilities of the police. It also helped them learn about the role played by the police in increasing awareness about cybercrime and resolving the problems of victims.

Through the Mission Shakti campaign, Hathras Police reiterated its commitment to women’s empowerment, cyber awareness and strengthening public trust.
